Pittsburgh Penguins - A Great Day for Hockey

The advertising campaign for the Penguins 2008 -2009 season is based around the slogan "A Great Day for Hockey". At first, I was a little apprehensive, but like all sports campaigns, it grows on you game after game.

One of my favorite aspects of the Great Day for Hockey ad push is the main commercial featured in the mix...


Not only is it inspirational with some great shots to tug on the emotional heart strings of Pens fans everywhere, but the soundtrack is an added bonus. Yep, that's right, Pittsburgh's own The Clarks provide the song for the Penguins Great Day commercial.

The complimentary print and banner ads floating around the web help promote the same feelings of unity and pride for the team and city. The marketing team for the Penguins have done a great job over the years of instilling these same feelings...I suppose it also helps that the team is doing pretty well. But even in the off years, they still produced some memorable campaigns. We've experienced the evolution, now everyday is a Great Day for Hockey.
